Palliative Care Program

The Cancer Center of North Dakota's palliative care is provided by a hospice and palliative care board certified nurse practitioner to provide an extra layer of support for patients and their families. Palliative care focuses on maximizing quality of life for patients with advanced chronic or life limiting illness. This care is provided along with cancer treatments with a goal of improving comfort and understanding of treatment options. Unlike hospice, which is specifically for end-of-life care, palliative care can begin immediately upon cancer diagnosis.

Key Aspects of Palliative Care

  • What it addresses: Manages symptoms like cancer pain, fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, nausea, and shortness of breath.

  • Benefits: Improved comfort, better quality of life, increased understanding of treatment options, and reduced caregiver burden.
