FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (November 5, 2008) – The Hope Foundation of North Dakota, the official foundation of Cancer Center of North Dakota in Grand Forks, has received a $1,875 grant from the North Dakota Cancer Coalition. The grant was used for the Fort Totten semi-annual mammogram promotion at Indian Health Services.
The mammogram promotion was conducted in October, national Breast Cancer Awareness Month, on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation. Mammograms were free to Native American women. Each woman who had a mammogram received a $5 Walmart gift card and was entered in a raffle to win a hand made quilt.
The Hope Foundation conducted a similar mammogram promotion on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation in May 2008. More than 60 women took advantage of the free mammograms.
